Nudgey · Money Map · redesign v2

Your money, told like a story — grouped, dated, honest.

Two complete directions for the Money Map, built to the same brief: kill the hash labels, group accounts by institution, fix the totals & dates, search everywhere, drop the broken swipe — and make money the hero. Both treat honest delivery as a design primitive: nothing is shown until the data earns it. Pick the personality.

A

The Ledger — editorial & calm

Money as the hero: oversized Georgia numerals on warm paper, hand-led serif section titles, and a confident amount of whitespace. Reads like a beautifully set financial magazine, not a banking dashboard. This is the recommended direction.

“Most of your money went to groceries — and you sent a fair bit to James.”

Still reading two accounts. Once I’ve seen a full week on your KCB cards I’ll start spotting wins worth telling you about.

Spendable cash is a 60px serif hero. The broken swipe and overflow are gone — backup is two honest buttons. Instead of a fabricated “win,” a “this week in a line” editorial summary (only from transactions it’s sure about) plus a graceful “still learning” state. Honest delivery, by design.

Accounts — grouped by institution

One row per place. KCB collapses its 2 accounts + 4 cards into a single group (Ksh 51,844); M-Pesa stays a single wallet row. Friendly names + masked numbers, never a hash. The 6 empty “Ksh 0” accounts collapse into one tucked-away row, and a gold strip asks the human question in plain words.

Institution detail — KCB

Drill-in splits KCB into Accounts and Cards, each with in/out + balance. The unclassified card asks in the warmest words — “It’s my money” / “Money I owe” — no “prepaid vs credit” jargon. Classified cards wear a calm green “Your money” chip; retired cards collapse away.

Where your money went

Uses the real categories (People / Merchants / Bills…) as a scannable strip, then ranks counterparties with weight bars. The header total carries an “adds up to the list below ✓” promise — the same reconciliation guarantee that fixes the person-total bug. Search sits up top.

Counterparty detail

Header total is the literal sum of the rows, stated out loud: “equals the 3 transactions below.” Transactions group by month → day, each row shows a real date and its source account. The time-without-date bug is gone; the mismatch can’t happen because one number drives both.

The Pulse — a friend talking you through it

Same fixes, different soul. Leads with a single dark “tonight” hero that talks like a person, then warm conversational cards. Denser and more guided — Nudgey-as-companion rather than Nudgey-as-magazine. Shown on Home + Accounts so you can feel the difference without re-reading every screen.

Home — the companion voice

A darker, intimate “tonight” home where Nudgey speaks first. The terracotta “quick word” card carries the friend voice but stays honest (“from 31 transactions I’m sure about”) and the learning note is a warm nudge, not a scold. Same money-hero, same no-swipe, very different mood.

Accounts — the companion overview

Same institution-grouping and empty-collapse as Direction A, but each row gets a human one-liner (“holds the most of your money,” “your everyday wallet,” “quiet lately”). The classify prompt reads as a friendly to-do (“Sort it ›”). Warmer, chattier — at the cost of a little density.
